More Than a Program.
A Presence.

Most youth organizations serve children. MentorKids USA invests in communities.

MentorKids USA provides free year-round mentoring, after-school, and summer programs for K–12 students through Promise Neighborhoods across the Phoenix area.

The Promise Neighborhood model is built on a proven premise: lasting change happens when a child is supported consistently — not once a week, but year-round, by the same trusted adults, in the same neighborhood, from kindergarten through high school graduation.

We do not enter a neighborhood temporarily or from a distance. We plant ourselves in specific, geographically defined communities and stay — through after-school programs, summer enrichment, mentoring relationships, and a leadership development pipeline that grows with students over time.

MentorKids began as a one-to-one mentoring program in 1997. What we learned is that a single relationship, while meaningful, cannot fully overcome the complex challenges many students and families face. In 2010, we shifted to the Promise Neighborhood model — a holistic, long-term investment in students, families, and the neighborhoods surrounding them.

The outcomes tell the story of what long-term investment can build.

A Valley of Promise

Six Promise Neighborhoods. Six communities where MentorKids has planted roots, built partnerships, and committed to showing up — not just once, but for the long term. Each site is anchored by a local church, school, or community partner deeply embedded in the neighborhood, ensuring our presence is trusted and sustained.

Red dots mark active Promise Neighborhoods. The black dot marks our Home Office in Paradise Valley. Select a location to get directions.

When a child is known by name, surrounded by trusted adults, and supported year after year, something remarkable happens. They begin to see what is possible — and grow into leaders who help others do the same.

Get to Know Each Promise Neighborhood

The most powerful thing we can show you isn't a statistic. It's a student who knows they belong — and a community that believes in them.

We'd love to have you visit a Promise Neighborhood, meet our students and staff, and see the model in action. Tours are available year-round and take about 90 minutes.
