What is the MentorKids After-school program LEAD?

Leadership, Enrichment, Academics, and Discovery

Smiling young girl with curly hair in a bun, wearing a white shirt with rainbow patterns, sitting at a table with a plush pink pig toy, markers, and papers, with other children in the background.
A group of schoolchildren walking in line outside a building, with one child placing his arm around another's shoulder.
A young girl with dark hair tied back, wearing a dark blue school uniform and white sneakers with pink accents, is standing outside on a cracked concrete surface in front of a white wall. She is smiling and holding a colorful ribbon toy, which is twirling in the air.
A group of children posing in a classroom, holding a colorful display board with stars and the words "Stars in the Sky." The children are smiling and making peace signs, with desks and chairs visible in the background.

Our After-school program LEAD (Leadership, Enrichment, Academics, and Discovery) provides reading and math assistance, along with homework help, for K-5th grade students. LEAD’s primary objective is to positively impact student success—in the classroom and the community—by focusing on outcomes tailored to each individual student, and his or her unique strengths and challenges.

In addition to the academics, kids in the Tempe Promise Neighborhood will also have:

  • Leadership Development

  • Spiritual Growth Opportunities

  • Sports & Physical Activity

  • Art & Music

  • And much more

Summer Enrichment Program

The kids in our neighborhoods are at high risk of summer learning loss, MentorKids makes it possible for them to grow academically during a time when they would normally regress.
