Through Promise Neighborhoods across the Phoenix area, MentorKids provides free, year-round mentoring, after-school programs, summer enrichment, and leadership development for K–12 students.
The model is built on a simple but powerful belief: lasting change happens when a child is supported consistently, year after year, by trusted adults in the neighborhood they call home.
We plant ourselves in specific, geographically defined communities and stay. Through academic support, mentoring relationships, spiritual growth, summer programs, and a leadership pipeline that grows with students over time, MentorKids helps young people become leaders who build leaders.
MentorKids began as a one-to-one mentoring program in 1997. In 2010, we shifted to the Promise Neighborhood model after recognizing that one relationship, while meaningful, could not fully address the complex challenges many students and families face.
